Weekly Eye Catchers

Hi Reader

There was quality racing at the Cheltenham Christmas meeting.

I've picked out three horses worth following who all ran at Cheltenham recently.

Bo Zenith

Bo Zenith - 3rd in 1.15 Cheltenham 13/12/24

Bo Zenith stayed on strongly to finish third in the Catesby Estates Handicap Hurdle. He looked like being tailed off at the top of the hill under jockey James Bowen but stayed on stoutly up the hill to finish third. A step up to two and a half miles looks inevitable and with plenty of stamina in his pedigree a proper test will suit him well. A handicap mark of 138 looks very manageable.

Shakem Up Harry

Shakem Up Harry - Fell in 2.25 Cheltenham 13/12/24

Shakem Up Harry fell at the sixth fence when still travelling fine early in this Veterans race. He is more of a horse to follow rather than being an eyecatcher. He has a rating of 147 and won the Plate at the Cheltenham festival last season off 4 lbs lower. He’ll surely be aimed for a repeat effort in the Plate again and it wouldn’t surprise me if he were to go close again. I will be throwing a few quid next time wherever he runs just in case but he is one to keep onside.

Take No Chances

Take No Chances - 3rd in 3.35 Cheltenham 14/12/24

I had Take No Chances as an each way selection with the service in the 3.35 and she ran a creditable third carrying a big weight of 12 stone in the Mares Handicap Hurdle. She travelled sweetly throughout but there was absolutely no pace and the two mares that finished ahead of her were raced more prominently. She is still thriving and is capable of picking up another handicap off top weight against her own sex.
